Last time I checked, it wasn’t the sanctions that brought down the government of Libya and Iraq. It was the foreign military interventions. Not to mention, the North Korean government is still in power even after the death of Kim Jong Il.
From what I have seen, sanctions have only hurt the people of those nations who are also opposing the governments we put sanction on. So, what makes us think the new sanction on Iran will work? The ruling tyrants have always survived sanctions. They always find something to eat. It’s the people who pay the price of any sanctions.
I don't remember any sanction on a democratic government. Usually, if the government is democratic, they don't face sanction. Short answer to your question, NO! sanction has never worked. It only hurts the middle class.
